A true hero must be afraid. There can be no courage without fear.
No, of course a hero need not sacrifice to be hero. In fact, the best heroes are the ones that save someone else and do not have to sacrifice anything. Selflessness is not a virtue at all. It doesn't exist.
I am my own favorite hero.

Often a hero is simply someone who happened to be in the right place and jumped in without thinking to do what needed to be done. Later thinking may reveal they would not have done so if they had stopped to think. The only difference between a hero and a coward is often the direction they happen to run when frightened.
My heroes are the people who take care of the sick, injured and dying and bring fun and laughter to them to help through the pain.

My favourite hero was my dad (who passed away but is still 'living' among us in spirit) ( and currently my mother is my hero).

IN FACT, we all are heroes in one way or another.....

I'm not a hero. I wouldn't be one regardless. Foolishness is something that I work consistently to avoid. The concept of hero is the social manipulation and conditioning that allows others to kill themselves or to be killed in service to others.

No one is required, or should be required to die for another to prove something.

Altuism is a lie, coexistence is the ultimate truth.

Everyone whou fully understands this fact and does not hesitate to contribute to its fulfillment is a hero.

In taht case, some philosophers were heroes.
