I was a Republican all my life. As the Democrats have never had a clue, and the Republicans are in a fog, I became an Independent.

I've never been a member of a political party. However, at a very early age I knew the democrats and liberals were nuts and closet communists and would ruin the country if given half a chance. In other words, I've always intuitively known that I was a conservative and since there is no Conservative party, I have always voted for Republicans who have always been better than Democrats but have always been a disappointment.

As a teenager I helped out the Socialist Party when Norman Thomas was their perennial Presidential candidate. From 1960 to 1972 I was a registered Democrat. From September of 1972 to 1998 I was a registered Republican. Since the, I'm registered as non-partisan.
Throughout it all I have never missed voting in any general, special or primary election since first becoming eligible to vote.

No for a long time I didn't even vote at all, why bother with the lesser of two evils. Then I decided to be an Independent,
and I vote for the person I want in office. not for the party person who may be a total jerk. That's why I think we should do away with the primarys. Why vote for the person in your party if you don't agree with his political issues.

True to what? The parties seem to change with the wind..swing this way for public opinion, then do an about face for the next public opinion...I have little or no respect for political parties...I have watched them in action for far too many years. I vote for the candidates in spite of their affiliation. I have never voted a straight party block...no way!

I have always been an independent. Political parties always offer candidates that are on the extreme fringes. They don’t seem to understand that most Americans are rational. I always try to choose between the lesser evils.

I have stayed loyal to my Liberal beliefs, but the Democratic party has drifted away from them. Now with no party I can relate to most of the time I do not vote. With two parties saying, me too, but I can do it better what's to vote for?

Nope! I belong to the party whose candidate has common sense, a love for God, pride in our future and history, honest, does what he says he would do!
NOW.....have we ever had this candidate? NO! So, I usually choose the best of the worst.
