Yes. If the content of your e-mails is general information suitable for public domain, there is no harm in e-mailing someone who happens to be your teacher, INFREQUENTLY. However, you must both refrain from any topic of discussion that would be considered as sexually risque, inappropriate, or one that would require the teacher to show favoritism toward you in school. All the e-mails should be the kind you would not mind showing to your parents and the kind the teacher would not mind sharing with her co-workers, the principal and with your parents.

As long as the emails remain respectful and the teacher is alright with it, I do not see a problem with it. I would keep it just about the band and school though. She may be someone you can talk to if you need to.

As long as the teacher doesn't have a problem with it its fine. I am good friends with some of my ex teachers we talk and text. So as long as the teacher doesn't have a problem with it and the school has no rules against it emailing is fine.

The fact that you immediately thought you would by judged because you are in band, as if you have to defend yourself, is very interesting to say the least.... Be comfortable with who you are. You don't have to defend yourself - especially to faceless people you don't know on the internet. Now to answer your question - yes, it is fine. As long as she provided you with her email and she hasn't requested you stop, this is okay. I am finishing up my BA, and often professor's will provide their email and even home or cell #'s. It isn't that unusual.

hey girl, when I was in high school, i e-mailed my english teacher all the time. She was like a mom to me. There is nothing wrong with being close to your teachers. I think it is a good thing to be honest with you.

i've always kept my distance with teachers (that's how i've always been), but i guess if that teacher is good to you and makes you feel good as a person, a friend, then i don't see why it would be wrong.
