i have an inspiron 710m; i had a virus that kinda messed my laptop up, so the guy who fixed it had to completly wipe my hard drive; but wen i bought this laptop it had drivers for a dvd burner; i think that got erased, so i have a physical dvd burner but no software for that dvd burner; so is there any way that i can get my dvd software bak for FREE?

I can see your frustration. You get so used to using one program and then you're forced to use something else. The freeware programs out there don't always have the nice bells and whistles as what you had previously and are not always as easy to use. Even the "free" ones are not always free.

I would suggest looking through your CDs to find a disk from Dell that is labeled applications. It might even be on your restoration CD.

If you have no luck finding the CDs, try contacting Dell. It possible their support might be able to help you. Also, visit the hardware manufacturer's website to see if they had a free program to use.

If you have any OEM CDs for Nero, try using installing it. It works well. You can legally do this as long as it's not installed on any other computer.

They have a list of free programs you can look over. What I saw on downloads.com looked like trial versions.

If the DVD is made from Dell, you can probably find the driver on their site. If it's not Dell, go the manufacturer's site and look for a Drivers or software section. It's usually under Support.

There are also some 3rd party sites that have drivers as well. You can see a listing in the second link.
