Yes, you can use a tampon in the water...put one in and have fun!
P.S. Don't go without protection, the whole water thing is a myth...plus it's better to be safe than sorry.

I can't help you with tampon protocol, but I can offer some truly good advise: Sharks can detect the scent of blood over a mile away; STAY OUT OF SALT WATER! (And NO, tampons are not "waterproof"; they are designed so as to ABSORB any liquid... Why else would you wear it???) I trust that I've proved helpful.

heehee, this happened to me thursday! I wore a tampon and I was just fine. and contrary to what other people are saying, you NEED a tampon. even though you won't leak while you're in the water, if you stay out to talk to friends or to sunbathe, it will be noticeable. make sure to change it every 4 hours!

a tampon would work in the water, but I don't use anything. in the water your period just kind of stops so you'd be fine. when you got out you might want to put on a pad after a couple of minutes but in the water no problem. I think thats easier than a tampon

actually you might not even need a tampon. i swim without anything and i'm fine, but if feel uncomfortable without anything use a tampon.
