I know how you feel, I am half Jewish, but I don't look like it , so people think that it is ok to tell Jewish jokes around me and I get really offended. But every ethnicity is judged against, and has stereotypes. It might be because mocking the Jewish is a fad right now, and people can't mock African Americans or Mexicans or even white people because there are too many of them, and they can get violent. It might be because people have always hated the Jewish because they were God's chosen people and other cultures were jealous. The Jewish have been really strong to survive throughout the centuries of persecution.

Great question...

I had a web site called "Jewkids" (a Yahoo group). Someone tried to post a message to the kids warning them that they would all burn in hell for eternity. I blocked the message - and then the guy sent me a big long thing about how I shouldn't keep the truth from the kids!

One thing is jealousy - Jews really tend to focus on education, which leads to careers of power and increased earning potential. I mean - look what has happened to the Jews even in this century - and how they have bounced back rather than become a burden to the welfare system or give up.

Another thing is that Jews tend to be vocal and assertive when people try to cram Jesus sandwiches down their throats. While Christians mean well and think they are "saving" Jews - it is actually a very rude and arrogant thing to push your religion or your savior on other people.

Christianity is so en grained in the U.S. (try shopping during the holidays - you'll hear the Christmas music even when it's not playing!) that they are shocked when someone states that they do not believe in Jesus. They can't comprehend that - it's weird and frightening to them.

I think that's a big part of it.

Oh, here we go again. Why, oh, why, do people write such ridiculous generalizations as questions? Do they really not know any better? Or are they just naturally smucks? For your edification, Poster, not ALL Americans have anything against Jews. Some Americans ARE Jews. Some Americans have something against everyone. Some Americans have nothing against anyone. Grow UP!

Many stereotypes are bad when it comes to Jewish people... Like how they're supposedly very greedy when it comes to money.
A lot of people don't like people who are different. A lot of people are Christians in this country and don't like other religions.
I have no problem with Jewish people, I have a few Jewish friends and you wouldn't know by looking at them.
I'm not saying all Christians are against Jews, but some are. And no one said that America as a whole is against Jews, many Americans are Jewish. People also stereotype themselves. That's great because that shows they aren't sensitive about their religion or anything else.

You really shouldn't generalize like that. Americans as a whole don't necessarily have anything against 'Jews' as a whole. Not only that, but plenty of Jewish people are Americans..

Most people from the Americas have no problem with Jews, many do not even know a jew to look at one.

Now some people from the US have issues. But it is not as common as it once was.

There are American Jews ya think?
And Hollywood is the Jewish capitol of America, no?

I didnt know America was against Jews, we give Isreal plenty of money, and they have one of the best military systems in the world, and the crime rate is lower than America.

uh, we don't. we do like a good jew joke now and then, but that doesn't mean we hate them. tons of americans are jewish - they're usually the one's telling the jokes, anyways! at least as a whole, we don't have anything against them.

I have never understood why people do not like them and even hate them.i don't like them killing a 1000 innocents for two men being killed. but they have a right to be what they or and to have a country for them .and they have a right to defend their country . everyone is different. i am a Southerner and my culture is no better or worse then theirs.Theirs many fine Southern Jewish people. I pray for peace in the middle east.we support them with Billions of our tax dollars each year.and if anyone were to attack Israel we would get involved.we should all pray for Peace over there.and here
