When my boyfriend goes back to Lebanon for Ramadan and to visit with his family (his father is dying of cancer) should I worry about talking on the phone or emailing him? I mean with the "new" wiretapping edict, should I be worried that big brother will think we are speaking in code or something? He is a good man, no terrorist or the like, but with all the paranoia today, you just never know what the gov't will think. He will be gone for 2-3 months; we would only be contacting each other 2-3 times a month. That is usually the case with his yearly visits.

What do you think?

I think it doesn't matter which method you use. The government will probably be listening either way. Although Lebanon is technically one of our friends, anywhere in the middle east is suspect. They will probably assume he is pretending to stay in Lebanon while secretly attending terrorist training camp in Syria. The fact that he is a good man will not matter to them. They will assume that is just a ruse he has been putting on to throw them off the trail. I don't know what to tell you. Welcome to Bush's America. Civil rights when we feel like it.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless I had something to hide.
Otherwise, if anyone wants to make something of my conversation, I'll deal with the problem IF it becomes a problem.
In other words, don't fret over milk that hasn't spilled yet. Cross that bridge IF you come to it.
Otherwise, just don't worry about it.
Life is too short to play paranoid.

continue to live life as if everything is fine
be extra careful about what you say and realize that chances are someone is listening
if you avoid this you will look guilty
