When all they really do is give money to themselves, like Barbara Bush did after Katrina.

Former first lady Barbara Bush donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund with specific instructions that the money be spent with an educational software company owned by her son Neil.

Bush was STILL giving educational software to the schools ddamaged & distroyed by Katrina.

The fact that her son benifited as well doesn't lessen that fact that many recieved stuff they wouldn't have if she hadn't donated it.

If I were to buy food from my grandmother's grocery store & take it to the food bank, would you say I wasn't really donating to the food bank, but to my grandmother? What if I gave the food bank gift certificates to my grandmothers grociery store?

And how do you dismiss the many MANY donations of Bill Gates! Yes, some were HIS computers in classrooms, which could be viewed as an investment (thinking the kids will buy the same computers for themselves because that is what they are used to) but most of his donations are just examples of generousity.

It is not just the conservative wealthy that give to charity, it is conservatives of every income level...which is even more impressive, because they have less to spare.

But back to your issue...As someone else here said, libs are never happy...they criticize the wealthy when they don't give...they criticize when they don't give enough in the Libs' minds...and they criticize if someone the donater loves benefits along the way, even though the recipients of the charity still benefit.

Let's face it, you will never be satisfied...luckily YOUR happiness is not why people donate to charities.

B/c whether they do it for the right reasons or not, they are the ones giving the most to charity, b/c they have the most to give. Charity is 'in' for rich ppl nowadays, even though that sounds odd. Its a way of flaunting how rich you are, like, i have so much money that i can give a million away and still be rich.

Because they have more to give, I wish I had enough money to give to all the charities I would like to donate to. Also, they get a tax deduction.

Wow, some people can just never be happy...it's CHARITY, bucko--she's not required to do anything, but she gives money and you complain about where it's spent? Maybe the wealthy should stop being such dang hypocrites and not give anything.

I don't really think that it is "claimed", they actually do and are able to give more to charity. I would not expect anyone from a middle-class or low-income family to charity on that scale - would you?
