A laptop is a computer, but if you're referring to a computer as a desktop in this case, then a laptop is better than a desktop because it's portable and convenient, unlike a desktop.

Lab-tops really suck. But let's use the word Laptop.

Here's why laptops suck.

- they break easily
- they get stolen
- they don't last as long
- cost more to repair
- cost more to upgrade
- overheat
- batteries don't last much more than 2 years
- small screen
- heavy as a ROCK (when you get a larger screen)
- mouse touch PAD... Let's not go there
- limited expandability
- limited upgradability

Real gamers use a desktop with awesome hardware. They update and upgrade ALWAYS, so you are left in THE DUST.

But if you must, then get a laptop. Get one that is well made, so look at Toshiba first. Consider really getting a good look at laptops IN PERSON, with your own EYES at a retail store.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Depends on what you want to use it for.
I have both. Laptop is wireless, which allows me to use it when I travel.
I also have programs on my laptop that I use in the office.
I use the office computer for printing and some programs that are loaded on that system.

I am on my 3rd Toshiba laptop.
They have a life of 4 years before things start to happen and you think you better look for another one.
A desktop can last until it is so out of date you might want to buy one just to get a more modern model. Kind of like a television.
