on wednesday i was in the pool (i live in spain) and i think i twisted my ankle, but when i came out, it didnt hurt, it just felt weak. on thursday when i got up my foot really hurt and it was a little swollen but no bruising, so i iced it and the swelling went down and put my ankle support on, and limped around the house all day(my mom was at work). yesterday when i got up it really hurt, even more, so i could hardly walk, and when my mom got home she started shouting at me saying i was pretending to be hurt for attention cause my best friend has just moved and i wont see her anymore. my ankle really hurts and i think i might have a grade II sprain(looked on the internet)and it will have to be plastered or bandaged, but my mom wont take me to the hospital or doctors cause on tuesday i go on holiday to the UK, and she says i wont beable to fly if i'm on crutches...
please tell me what to do...my ankle really hurts, and if i leave it'll get worse

You really should get it looked at. Keep trying to convince her that youre telling the truth. I had a grade II sprain and without medical attention it didnt heal for almost a year because I kept re-spraining it during sports. I understand how bad it hurts so if you keep trying eventually she has to believe you. Good luck and get better.

Don't worry so much, you don't need crunches, but: till your flight you need to walk as little as you can, you need to wear an ankle support all the time and don't forget it in the plain. You need to wear an elastic bandage, buy it in a drugstore, ice it and use Dolobene gel or Dolgit, ice for first 2 days then heat - warm socks and you can try Apizartron. Don't worry, the fact that you can walk means it's not so serious. I had 2 sprains and the last one was really bad, couldn't walk at all for 10 days... You'll be fine, just don't walk much for 2-5 days, only when necessary and with a bandage. Use medicines, it will make it heal faster. Parents often don't believe their children, it hurts but your mom can have something on her mind now, that's why she treats you like that. I know it doesn't make her an angel but... it's not easy to be a parent, sometimes people can't take care of their children and earn enough money to survive at the same time. Forget it, you're strong enough to cope without her. If you're walking even with pain, looks like you'll be ok in a week or 2.

darling, i am sorry you are not being believed, there is nothing worse when family let you down like this. Sprains do tend to feel worse before they get better. Are you able to get from the chemist Arnica. Either in a lotion to apply to the sprain or in tablet form, to take internally. This will help reduce the swelling and make it less painful for you. Arnica is a homeopathic remedy, it is not a drug and has no side effects, perfectly safe for you to take. I do hope your mum softens her heart towards you. lots of love. get well soon and enjoy your holiday. if you can't get Arnica in Spain, you will find it in a chemist here. God bless.
JOE I am concerned if she calls an ambulance, then she may get charged for it, or they wont come because she is a minor.

Joe... You should go down to the Pharmacy in Spain (farmafia); pronounced. And then go and let the pharmacist look at it. She may give you a note to take to your doctor and your doctor will most likely put it into a removable boot or a cast (along with crutches.) You should also convince your Mum that she should take you to the doctors. No offence to your Mum but I do think that is a bit mean not taking you to the hospital when you need to :( I hope you get well soon. And make sure you get a cast *Signs in thin air* :P
Bye x
p.s. I am 12 myself! :D My birthday in 9 days

You probably think you've got a grade II sprain because you've been reading about it on the Internet. You have an ankle support anyway? How can you twist (or think you twisted) your ankle in a swimming pool? I suspect your Mum is right and you should do as she says.

make mum a cuppa put it on a tray and slip a little note on it
telling mum you dont want to spoil the holiday but you are genuine about your pain, she's probably been stressed out what with work family and the holiday arrangements and you caught her at a bad moment, its not easy being a mum you know. ask her if she can pick you up an elasticated stocking at the chemist and try this for a few days, i'm sure it'll made a big difference

If you keep telling your mum, eventually she will have to be live you. If she doesn't, then she will if it is too painful to walk on in the morning - of course if may be getting better by then. Try to explain to her that you really want to go on holiday but you really did injure your ankle.

if it is sprained then not much hospital will do except bandage it up. ideally u should have it xrayed to check exactly what u have done but if she really wont take u to hospital (i cant believe that- if it was my child i would want to check its ok) then strap it up with a supporting bandage or tubigrip and when u get to the uk get someone to take u to hospital to get it xrayed.

You need to see an ortho it may be a fracture since there was swelling. You seem to have a lot of pain, any good pain killer will take care of the pain, but the underlying problem has to be solved.
See your doctor asap.

Sprains take a while to ease off, come to UK and if it still hurts go to hospital and get it sorted.
