Most ppl born in TX have an innate sense of pride and superiority. Our history of being the Republic of Texas, our title as "Lone Star" state, these things are reflections of our sense of individuality and separation from the rest of the U.S. I mean, look at our flag! It's a visual image of everything I'm saying here: Texans view themselves as number one, and the only one, that matters.

But I can tell you this: Texas really is a friendly state. Just like our name, tejas, means friendly.

I think one of the coolest bumper stickers I ever saw read: Not born in Texas, but got here as quick as I could!

I moved from California to Texas at the age of 30 (I'm 43 now) and I can say Texas kicks booty on California...

Texas natives seem to have a "par excellence" on hospitality and politeness. People are more down-to-earth here, but NOT redneck...

I love Texas...the women are friendly, polite, and not as stuck-up as West Coast or East Coast women...

They are even very gentle and polite when they're not interested in a guy romantically, but they end up becoming your best friend (and this is coming from a formerly redneck Northern Californian dude who plans to NEVER move back to California permanently unless it's a 6-figure salary...

In Texas...

A man can be tough AND a gentleman...

Without catching any flak...(how's that? for a pro-Texas speech...?)

It isn't better, it's just the biggest (unfrozen) State. Has more different climatic zones than any other State, so you can be hot, humid and miserable on the Gulf coast, or freeze your butt off in the northern panhandle. Ever tried to drive across the entire State in an east/west direction in one day? It's approximately the same distance from Los Angeles to El Paso as it is from El Paso to Texarkana.

Better than what? Arkansas?

If you don't know why it's better, than it's probably not better.
