I'm not too sure why you'd want to skin a fish while it's alive ... but no. It's generally believed that they do not have emotions like happiness and sadness. However ... they do feel pain! So while you're skinning the live fish it can feel the pain caused by your actions.

You... skin them alive...? That's pretty cold-hearted. At least when my family eat fish, we at least chop the head off for a quick and painless death. 0_o
Anyway, I believe fish do have emotions just like many other animals, except that they probably just show it in other ways not much of us can understand.
Also, for some of the posts that say they have a short attention span, that it a lie. It's been proven false on many occasions, as some are able to ring bells and go through mazes easily if trained.

Well I can tell you this that a catfish when skinned if it is alive lets out a scream. I used to think they did not have feelings but after seeing this I do not eat catfish or catch them any more because I now think they do have feelings. As for other fish I'm not sure but am skeptical.

Emily A: Your water quality must have been bad for a fish to die. Your only fish wasn't feeling lonely, it was feeling sick.
No I don't they have emotions and such, but I do believe they can feel some sort of pain, although not the same way humans do. Our nervous system is completely different.

In physical pain yes, but emotional about it? No. Fish are physically incapable of emotions as we know them.

Personally, I think they do, even if everyone else says they don't. When two of my goldfish died, my other one looked lonely and sulked at the bottom of his tank until I got him a new friend, and now he swims around happily. I call that the emotion of lonliness.

No, fish in fact, do not have emotions. They are cold blooded animals and cannot feel when they are hooked, gutted, or skinned. They squirm around only because of the lack of oxygen. Fish have very small brains and are unable to comprehend feelings or emotions, unlike us, the very complicated human.
