The confederate flag means different things to different people.
To some it means "White Pride" which is almost always a euphemism for bigotry.
But to some it just means southern pride.
But I am bothered by anyone one who would use a symbol that has bigotry as one of its meanings, even if that isn't the meaning they intend to represent.
You can bet that if the homosexuals adopted a symbol that is currenty used by macho men, they would drop that symbol like a hot potato!
Just look at what happened to the word "gay."

What do you mean by "support" the flag? The question doesn't even make sense. The flag is simply a part of history. It is neither evil nor good. There were very good people who were confederates and there were very bad people...just like those in the Union armies. And let's face it...The political parties of the Civil War era were nothing like the political parties of today. You really do need to go back to school...for a number of reasons.

States rights is Treason I dont think so. The Confederacy is all about the rights of states to operate with little interference from a federal govt. That is not treason in fact thats what we should strive for today. The only reason the confederacy lost is because lincoln sold us out to the British and we are still paying the debt on it. the loan number lincoln signed is 1040 ie 1040 form.

Hey Chi Guy, based on your Avatar, you seem like you might be black.
If that is the case, don't you feel the least bit guilty that you are a member of the party that fought in the bloodiest war in American history to keep you enslaved, because to them you were no better than an Animal?
Is your guilt the source of these "questions"??
Edit - OK so you are not a Democrat. I would love to hear who you are voting for though. I see you donated to Plames's website. That speaks volumes. And I see that you served in the military and are a business owner. Me too on both counts. And as former far left liberal, veteran of the Marine Corps, and current business owner myself, I can't see how a guy like you could not see through the left's B.S. and not see that in General, the right has the best phylosophy for doing what is best for the country which in turn is better for all of it's citizens.

Aas a Liberal.I think that opposition to any display of the Confederate flag is mostly a propaganda driven emotional reaction.
I don't think the Confederacy was in any way a good thing, but the attempt to deny a part of our history is dangerous and somewhat stupid.

Who cares if the Rebel flag is still flown? The civil war ended over 140 years ago! No one alive today ever saw the Civil War, so its time to come down off your "soapbox" and come into the 21st century!

who is flying this flag now? i think if you take a look at the older southern congressmen, you will find they were former sympathisers of segregation and the KKK. ancient history for now we all are under one flag or should be.
more disturbing to me is to see the Mexican flag flying while protestors are demanding constitutional rights for non-citizens.
is there anything that you find good about American?
in one of your post on my question regarding a book review, you made an accurate observation that i would like to remind you of:
"An informed person (such as yourself) makes better decisions. One must always consider the sources of their information."

Why do you care about this? You libs have already made it a freedom of speech issue to burn a US flag, so if you don't care about one flag why care about another? As has been said, nobody up north gives a hoot what flag you fly around your state house...there are actually real problems to worry about, and that's not one of them.
