~~~ I'd have to say it makes enough of a difference to me,that I usually check out the "Askers" profile and look at the previous questions he/she has asked and how they were resolved , before I answer. If the question has significant meaning to me,or is something I might know about, I'd like to think the asker read my response. I don't care if I get a best answer or not in those incidents , at least I know I was heard, because the person had to read all the responses in order to choose. When I see something has gone to a "Vote",it kind of ticks me off because I know it's random now,and I had to struggle through all that tedious typing for nothing. It's true about the voting process too.....it sucks! I usually forget to vote, and sometimes when I have, I've hurridly picked one of the top three.....only to discover I also answered that stupid question,and just voted against myself. lol! That's what I get for being lazy. I know it's hard to choose a "Best Answer" though,especially if you get alot. When that happens with me....I let my cat pick. I bribe him to type out the responses too. After he's done he gets to watch Bob Marley videos in YouTube. ~~~
It appears unanimous, most respondents prefer to have the best answer chosen by the asker.
I do too, I think it is only common courtesy for the asker to do so. People have taken the time to respond, the least the asker can do is take the time to consider all the answers and choose a best.
In addition, the voting process can be tainted.
People with multiple accounts voting for their own answers; friends voting for each other; and the general voting population choosing within the first few answers.
And to me personally; absolutely, it is far more rewarding to be chosen by the asker than the voting populace.
~*~ Coco, I hope you don't wager money on that bet. LOL
EDIT:
LOL, Donellle lets her cat pick - a far superior method than Yahoo's voting process.
(Please remind me to NEVER answer one of her questions again! Cats don't like dogs - Yellowstone ones or not!)
Yeah I prefer the asker to judge, at least you know they have read your answer, it's a little rude not to pick a best answer yourself. Having said that I did forget to choose once as I hadn't logged on in a week.
What's the betting these answers go to vote.
I like the asker picking, going to the vote is impersonal and if there is a lot of answers and most voters will probably read the first 3 and pick from them, getting a false best answer.
I would rather see the asker`s comment most of the time.
Sometimes I give frivolous answers just for the fun of it, then no. Either way all is well, the dogs and cats will continue to play, the children will dance.
Definitely. I get mad when my answer wasn't even read by the questioner. They didn't take the time and trouble to read what I put out the effort to write. That is rude and annoying. I appreciate the Votes I get, but it's not as rewarding.
Well, when the question is opinionated and the person gives you best answer for agreeing with them or saying something that they might have said---that really ticks me off. Other than that, though, I kind of like it when people pick out what helped them the most.
I like it when the asker picks the best answer, cause then you can see what they wrote, what they thought about your answer. it's more personal.
I like it when they judge!
If not, I always excuse them, thinking that they haven't logged in recently, as the were busy or something :)
Because this has happened to me, too.
I like your picture!! :)
I think each answer shows a little of who we are.....its nice when it is well received and not just overlooked.
