Hi there. I had an operation a week ago on my shoulder. This was done to repair the torn cartlidge, repair the tears in the ligaments and tendons and to repair one of the muscles. I was told by the surgeon that my shoulder would be fully functional in 3 months and that in 6 months I could play rugby.

Rugby is crucial for me as I have a sports scholarship at my school, and 6 months would mean missing the whole season. I heard that sports men now take collagen tablets to decrease healing time after injuries but I'm not sure. So if I were to take collagen tablets would it help to decrease my healing time? I'm 16 if that makes a difference. Any help would be much appreciated.

That can help and won't do you harm, but don't buy too expesive, it won't make a miracle. Try also vitrum Artra, it's kind of vitamin, a bit expensive. Taking vitamins will also help, especially E. You can help your body to repair by taking some medicines and vitamins. I understand you, I broke my leg and I'm missing a month of basketball and good summer weather, but still, don't be in a hurry to resume playing, visit a doctor first to be sure.

I used a Tens machine to aid healing. Not too expensive, you can wear them on your waist band. the pulsations increase the blood flow to the area aiding healing. also homeopathic remedies can help too. Rhus tox. is the remedy which should help you, can be bought at chemist.
