I have 6 tiger barbs and 3 red swordtail fish along with 3 zebra danios. I woke up this morning and my only male red swordtail was dead, could this have been from the tiger barbs? I noticed they have been picking on my algea fish as well.

Yes, it is quite possible. Tiger barbs are well known to do just that type of thing. Odds are good it is only one or two or the barbs that are responsible, but that is a very reasonable assumption that they are guilty.

Yay! A bubble nest. those bubbles are stable. He builds them while he's youthful and/or satisfied. that's a prep for eggs. :) that's possibly that the barb is attacking the others. sometimes they only flow homicidal. I even have continuously had only one tiger barb. while he became in a tank with 4 others, he became the only one left after some days. We offered a much better tank and distinctive the colours and breeds and offered him some women (i pay attention that a lacking makes them jealous), and nonetheless he became the only one. Now, a ailment (columnaris) killed a million/2, yet he went nuts and finished the rest off. i'm undecided why precisely they do this, honestly. i've got faith that that's an imbalance in the water. i can't have the money for those fancy attempt kits, so perhaps you will locate out. all the excellent!

tiger barbs and swordtails are both semi aggressive fish and should not be housed together unless your tank is fairly large... they need to establish their own territory...they will pick on your algea eater untill the stress kills him...sounds like your tank is a bit small so my advice is to add plants and lots of decorations so your fish can establish their own territories and that will relieve some of the stress on all your fish...give your algea eater a safe place to hide.....good luck..

Do a little research into community fish. That will tell you
which will and will not attact other fish. Swordtails are good
for picking on some other fish Plus Males will fight until one
or the other are either dead or wounded.

did your red swordtail have bite marks and if he did then it probably was your tiger barbs and i would suggest moving the tiger barbs so they cant hurt any other fish
