I'm kind of like that...

Maybe, it's just something he's used to having. It's like a security/routine thing.

Kind of like underwear. If you don't ever wear underwear, then it will feel strange to wear it.

But if you're used to it, then it's weird not to wear it.

Get it?

I sweat like mad during the day at work or even if my concentration is intense, but, no I don't sweat when I lay in bed. I do sleep on top of the blanket for the first 3 hours to cool down from the day. Then when I get under the covers it's war if someone moves them. I have to strategically place my extremities in pre-determined zones to fight against the queen of cover theft! My wife needs all of the covers for some odd reason. Every night the battle grounds are drawn! I am getting the idea she likes these battles. The evil smiles give me the signals she is ready for an full frontal assult!

My husband doesn't recognize that he's hot and sweating. I don't realize when I am freezing. I don't know if we're soul mates - but we do ying/yang each other on a few things - this is one of them.

My best friend has to have the covers on or they can't sleep. They need to feel the weight on their body.

Most men, I've noticed, feel the need to cover. I don't know if it's because when they wake up they have a Mr. Happy they can't control. That's just a guess, I don't know because I am not a man.

I think we all have night rituals and idiosyncrasies.

Maybe you could put a fan in your room? Also maybe the dampness from the sweat and the coolness of the room (if your AC is on) gives him a chill. I'm with you, I just use a sheet, but my husband wants a blanket too! He's so cold blooded though he doesn't sweat in his sleep & hates that I am the one who does, so I like a fan when I sleep.

I think it's a security thing, like how kids sometimes need their "blanky" or their favorite teddy bear to sleep. Maybe sleeping without a blanket makes him feel kind of vulnerable
( like some people wouldn't dare to THINK of sleeping nude),or at least uncomfortable. Or maybe he's just so used to sleeping under a blanket, that that's he's not used to not having one and it feels strange. I don't know. We're all different. But the best solution,i guess,is try to find a thinner blanket...maybe.

I'm like that, I get hot while in bed, but I don't just keep the blanket over me, usually just the bed sheet is all I use.
