I assume you mean the average American who is not serving in Iraq. I don't know....why don't people tell us what they have been doing to support the troops other than putting stickers on your car? I am completely against this war and always have been, but my family has "adopted" a military family (wife and 2 children) and we exchange letters and I've sent things to them that they needed but couldn't afford. So, what have you done?

I read all I can and Say a prayer for soldiers families that have lost loved ones
I also tryo to make others aware the importance of showing your support

I have found a website that does just that and very reasonably

http://www.angelfire.com/fl3/622/soldiers.html

OR

aS FAR AS THE AVERAGE aMERICAN gOES
I don't think we know what real sacrifices are

During WWII we had to ration gas and sugar - collect aluminum and rubber, paper and steel.

Over 500,000 American Dies died in that war at the time it was about In in every three families and 290 per day

Kore we lost 38 per day

Viet nam we lost just under 18 per

Iraq we are losing just under 3 per day

The biggest sacrifice made by MOST Americans is having to listen to all the ant-American arguments coming from the Democratic Presidential Candidates.
True sacrifice would be for those profiteers in it Military Industrial Complex to forgo their HUGE profits and give the budget a break thereby freeing up the budget for more logical expenditures like proper protective equipment for our troops!

The average American has made little or no sacrifice other than having to watch the war on TV. Some have made the ultimate sacrifice.

My brother in-law is currently in Iraq on his 3rd tour and my son recently left...I am the daughter of a 3 war vet (including WWII) I am married to a vet...I get it and I support them all. My family also helps raise money to care for the families left behind as well as donates to many charities that help support the war, and yes I do have a magnetic ribbon on my car...If that's not counted as sacrifice then I don't know what to tell you.

Well,we watch the news!
I'm afraid the answer is yes.
When the threat of having a child placed in a flag draped coffin is spread through out the entire nation the response would be dramatically different.
(Man! I watch the News on PBS and at the end of the Friday report they show pictures of the folks that were murdered "over there" along with the names and ages. Some as young as nineteen. It is sad.)

You mean the draft that is never going to happen? Will THAT draft bring the war back in focus? I WISH I could play your little hypothetical to a meaningful end, but there is no coming draft; so, try a different angle.

None. It ain't much of a war to tell the truth. It is more of a minor skirmish.

You can send care packages or air-conditioners or just a card. It is up to you. We are not in need of rationing or shifting our economy to the manufacture of war goods. The truth is there is not a lot we are in need of sacrificing.

Average Americans are fighting the war.

The typical American:
"I put on my two yellow ribbons on my oversized SUV and drive it to Walmart where I can become a massive consumer of Chinese-made Walmart goods. I then go to McDonalds and decide to park in the handicapped area because I don't want to walk the extra 10 feet. I turn on Foxx News and hear about a war in a country that I cannot even correctly point on a globe. I then go to church on Sundays were I tithe over 10% of my entire earthly income for a preacher that is a closet padeophile."
