This is a long one so bear with me... In 2002 I was in an accident 7 days after i got my license. A Yield sign had fallen down and i didnt see it but the state still said it was my fault. Well i had just turned 18. Apparently the lady had sued me but i had NEVER seen or signed a letter saying i was getting sued. Well apparently my mother had signed for the lawsuit but sadly died in a car accident not to long later and NEVER told me about me getting sued. I found this out when i went to renew my license and they said i had a NOT STATUS on my drivers license... IWHAT DO I DO!!! is there a statue of limitations on how long they can put a not status on my drivers license??? any legal advice???

I dont know to much about the law but that is what happened. When i found out i had not status on my drivers license i called the DMV of my home state. They didnt even have contact information for the lady that sued me. On top of that i found out about the not status 3 years after i had joined the service and the never even garnished my wages. It isnt even in my credit report. The only thing that is there is a not status in my states DMV record. I even went to my legal department and they counldnt find any records of a lawsuit against me. No case number no nothing... I dont understand either... I cant even find the date it went to court. Becuase if it went to court after i joined the military then i am covered under the Civil Servicemans Relief ACT. What else can i do?

You MUST settle the lawsuit one way or another regardless of the status of you license. That said, there is absolutely NO WAY you were sued 5 years ago and they only sent 1 notice. At the very least, they would have sent notice of a default judgment when you failed to appear in court. In addition, the person that sued you would have made attempts to collect. Something MAJOR has to be missing from this story to convince me ANY of it is true.

I think you need a lawyer, You can submit your issue in the following website and a lawyer will contact you within 24hrs. Don't worry about their charges, Its only $1/day. I think this you can afford. Here is the link
