I like it...trendy, modern, kind of designer. It's not a name hard to pronounce yet it isn't all too common yet. No rude or hurtful nicknames I can think of...so go for it!

Ashton is a great name! Take a look at its meaning!

Ashton:
Although the name Ashton creates an interest in the deeper aspects of life, we emphasize that it causes a restless intensity that defies relaxation.

This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the heart, lungs, bronchial area, and solar plexus.

The name of Ashton has given you sensitivity and appreciation for the finer and deeper things in life.

You can enjoy reading, study, and contemplation about many different subjects.

When your interests or curiosity are aroused, you work intensely at new undertakings, but your interests often wane when you encounter drudgery and monotony, with the result that you leave many things unfinished.

Your name has taken you into many bitter experiences.

The greatest lack in your life is stability and peace of mind.

A peaceful and quiet environment, especially out in nature, is one of your greatest desires, but you are constantly taken into chaotic conditions.

Because you have high ideals and are a principled person, you have been disillusioned and disappointed in people on many occasions and have experienced much aloneness.

Just read through these and am glad I never posted... My son is Ashton Nathaniel. I obviously love the name. My hesitation was Ashton Kutcher was becoming famous. 10 years down the road, most wont remember him. My suggestion is to do a strong boy name as a middle name

If you don't mind naming him after a particularly awful industrial town in the north-west of England then I suppose it's OK!

Name derives from the Assheton family circa 1200.
