'Friend' is a powerful word and you are very lucky if you have one or two friends in your life.

There is a huge difference between 'friend' and acquaintance. Or even Friend and Co-worker.

For me, it takes a long time, a minimum of five years, to know somebody before one can consider them a 'friend'.

Heck, even married people do not consider their spouses to be their 'friends'.

Whew, what a tough question. I'm going to have to ponder a little to reply on this one.

Basically their understanding and their approach towards life and humans.

A friend is someone who shows a real interest in what you do and how you are. It is someone who makes you feel special when you are around him/her.

There are a lot of obvious qualities I could list. For me, the most important one is having a friend who is there for me when I need them the most, despite their own hectic life.

Sometimes I don't even need to tell them I need them, they just know. I love my friends. Life's too short and time to precious to waste the energy on people you can't consider true friends.

I srongly feel that the following qualities are required in a friend:
Good friends.....
....listen to each other.
....don't put each other down or hurt each other's feelings.
....try to understand each other's feelings and moods.
....help each other solve problems.
....give each other compliments.
....can disagree without hurting each other.
....are dependable.
....respect each other.
....are trustworthy.
....give each other room to change.
....care about each other.

TRUE FRIENDS ARE LIKE DIAMONDS - COSTLY RICH & RARE. FALSE FRIENDS ARE LIKE LEAVES FOUND EVERYWHERE.

So, its very difficult to search for a good friend because - the person may be wearing a sincere, helpful, loyal and good image but from deep inside that person may totally be opposite...

it will take a long time to find out that the person is right for friendship or not!!

Good luck!!

The kind of qualities that match your values, morals, ethics, interests and life experiences - people who portray these traits become your friends and you become theirs. These qualities vary from person to person which is why you click with some people and don't with others (yet others do). They also determine the degree of your friendship from acquaintance to best friends.

ideally I wont ever could choose for, yet my terrific pal has been my terrific pal for the reason that we've been 5.....22 years, I rather have 2 babies with my husband, they dont rather look after eachother yet each and each is familiar with that the different is unlikely away. i think of if I had to compliment it may count on who did incorrect. Even then it rather is as much as me to no count if I enable somebody decrease to rubble something in my life, or maybe no count if to forgive the guy.

I might be a little backwards when it comes to this, but its not the qualities in a person that i look for when making a new friend. Its always, what negative traits do they display first? that dictates whether or not we will be friends.

Personally I've never had a friend I haven't been a little attracted to. Weather the attraction is in their beauty or personality. I'm not necessarily talking about sexual attraction, although any attraction can grow to a sexual one.
