The Battles of Lexington and Concord, which were the start of the American Revolutionary War, occurred when the British tried to seize the colonists weapons of self-defense [WSD].
The Founding Fathers were very conscious of overbearing government's need to have a defenseless citizenry - thus the individual States' insistence on a Bill of Rights.
Remember, the Bill of Rights is a series of limitations on government. The right to own firearms isn't just to allow us to protect ourselves from criminals - it is also to allow us to protect ourselves from government.
The statement about there being more violent crime in the USA than anywhere else is totally false. You should be ashamed of yourself for positing such a falsehood. Been to Baghdad lately? Sierra Leone? Nicaragua? Laos?

Yes I do realize why there's a Second Amendment. It exists to protect my right to own assault rifles or whatever the state of the art infantry weapon might be. I really don't care what other 'civilized cultures' care to do in their homelands. We have the right and the power to defend ourselves from individual criminal threats or to overthrow a government run amok. We like it that way and intend to keep it.

the second ammendment was to protect people because people would be barging into peoples houses without invitation. if everyone has a gun- then people wouldnt be as likely to hold someone up because -well they will be shot. its something like self defense-you dont use it when theres no threat but when theres a threat you take it out to show others-you wanna die over robbing 5 bucks dude- or in the civilized society. you cant even defend yourself because you cant carry a weapon but theres a gang approaching-if you got a gun and they got a gun- well are they going to die over a few bucks.

Yes I do understand it very well. Your view point is warped. It is very obvious that you do not understand what the 2nd Amendment is all about.
Militia does not mean National Guard. It means that the citizens have the right to form their own militia to protect themselves from a government that has become harm full. It also means that you and I have the right to protect our home and family from the criminal acts of others. It also gives us the right to hunt big game according to the law.

You're a fool.
The 2nd protects your other rights.
LEGAL weapons are not the problem, ILLEGAL weapons are. But of course it's easier to punish the law abiding citizens than the criminals.
Sounds like your just another typical moonbat crazy.
Oh, and feel free to leave the US(if you live here) and move to one of your "safer" countries.
And one more thing...WMDs... grow the **** up.
EDIT:
Yeah, outlawing guns makes it safe...

And these cultures that you speak of that ban guns completely-has their crime rate disappeared?
People who want to hurt other people will find a way, whether they have access to guns or not.
