The 'Taj Mahal' would not have been so beautiful if Shah Jahaan would have invited a tender and slelected the lowest bidder !!

My intention behind the question or rather the statement was that if you are in a decision making position today and if you have to make a masterpiece avoid the temptation of going for L1 bids.

Time has not changed much. Even now you can see the personal palatial buildings of senior politicians and bureaucrats' which are built according to their taste without calling for lowest bidder.

Shah Jehan put his heart and soul into his dream project. It was this dedication that made the Taj the most beautiful wonder.

I thought most castles were built upon slave labor. That's as low of a bid as you're going to get.

tenders were thought of only in democaratic times, in autocracy it was the kings wish to do what he wanted. so where is the question of what would have happened................... if...............................
