If you look in an atlas you will see how militarily strategic Iraq is to the Middle East. I'm pretty sure we invaded/occupied this region to set up military bases. We are not leaving anytime soon.

Proof? Not much. Just the way I see it.

We are in Iraq for one reason...to generate money for military contracts...Contracts that the Bush and Cheney families are cashing in on...Don't believe for one second that the American Military cannot defeat a group of haphazard punks with machine guns...We defeated the entire German and Japanese forces in less time than we have been in Iraq...don't believe that our Military can't control a small area of the world with the most powerful weaponry on this planet...they try to brainwash us everyday with the nonsense of saying that we need more time...more time for what?....it is not America's responsibility to offer a democratic government to any nation...we have had a consistently changing agenda since we arrived in Iraq...don't be fooled by the propaganda that this administration churns out every day with words like "Surge" and "Global threat"...these are words that the Nazi administration used during the 30's and 40's to gain support for a criminally driven administration...our men and women are dieing in Iraq for no reason but to support the Bush administration's money-making machinery...don't listen to the right wingers that claim we are protecting ourselves in America from terrorism...that is a complete and utter fabrication...the 450 billion dollars that has been spent on this war effort could have been used to reinforce our own borders and shorelines, our nuclear facilities, our railway systems, our water supplies...this war is another Viet Nam and the conservatives know it, they planned it and they refuse to admit to it...ask yourself the question, "Why are we involved in a civil war across the planet?"...we found no chemical weapons, we captured and killed Hussein, why are we still there?...They have made enough money on this war and the blood of our men and women, we all need to stop this war now.......

Well....When Saddam invaded Kuwait, we went in and pushed him back to Baghdad. Then the UN placed sanctions on Iraq and made him open up for UN inspectors to keep tabs on his question for WMD's. He kept locking them lock, diverting them, broke 17 resolutions for 13 years, gassed villages of his own people, kept up the torture, played games with the oil for food scandal and actually worked it into a big money making scam for himself and those in the UN, France, and Russia to keep the US and UK off of his back. He then decided he no longer wanted oil traded on the USD, he wanted euros instead. This made him billions of dollars for his own personal wealth and the US took a trillion $ hit. The other counties in the middle east were not comfortable with Saddam and felt that he was too eager to expand his own power. So we took him out. Period.

We are there now to provide security to give the Iraqi's the chance to get their government solidly entrenched and protect it form the Radical Islamist who want to set up their own Government. Iran is leading this effort to keep this government unstable.

OK no rehash of the past,we all know it. We went for good reasons, Saddam was a bad man, the people did not stand up and help themselves, what Bush and Co thought, and it's taken to long and people do not like it. We now have a foothold there and thats good. Peace

The purpose of fighting in Iraq is to promote 'democracy' in that part of the region. Basically, democracy is wanting to rule the world which isn't exactly the idea of democracy. As a matter of fact, more countries opened up to democracy by following other countries who turn to it, rather than being dictated to choose it.

Dick Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton.

Halliburton gets billion dollar no-bid contracts to provide wartime services.

George Bush, Sr. fought a war against Iraq and was hailed when our military won quickly.

George Bush, Jr. wanted the same adulation, so he ordered the same war, ignoring all advice, intelligence, common sense, etc. that was against his boneheaded plan.

Not a lot of dots to connect there.

so we keep the violence over there. if Al0-Qaeda and the Alibabas from Iran are trying to kill us over there, they won't need to come over here and do it. All they want to do is kill us. why? cause were not of their religon. If they attack us over there, there happy because they think their god is happy. if the war ends, they will try to attack us many many more times on home turf

Oil, money and power. And it makes the US economy look good, all that expenditure on the war helps US companies.
