I would like to suggest that we try a different approach!
I would like to suggest that all those who haven't already...read all of Neale Donald Walsch's books...beginning with the Conversations with God trilogy!

The reason I am making this suggestion, is that these books are not ONLY spiritual....they are ALSO political, and they offer the best ideas I have ever found, for real solutions to most of the issues we struggle with all the time.

Most of you already have the basic understandings, and even more than just basic....or you would not be liberals. And reading these books would help to fine tune your understanding, and it would also give us workable ideas that we could focus on, and different ways of approaching the other side, and helping them to better understand...without all the hate and animosity, and frustration.

Anyone who is open minded enough, and willing to take me up on my suggestion, is more than okay with me!

Peace and Love to all of you!

Thank you Carolyn M for your really good answer. I should tell you, though, that Neale Donald Walsch is by no means conservative, and also that I would never, ever read that Left-Behind stuff, because I think it is pure evil!

Paul, thank you for answering my question. You are the only one, so far who has read these books, but I hope you won't be the last!

Yes, the books by Neale Donald Walsch is very enlightening, spiritually and politically. And has change my perspective on life, another book is the secret. Neale Donald Walsch was actually in the movie "the secret". I think this beginning of the 21 century people are starting to awaken their minds. It's going to be a very positive future I know it and feel it.

For those who never read the book, or are atheists, give it a try, also try the book called the secret. Let just say it is like the in the movie the matrix where you have a choice to take the blue pill or red pill, the blue pill will let you live the life you have, the red pill, well you have to find out for yourself. Not from others opinion, form your own.

I am a prolific reader and will gladly add this author's name to a priority list.

Actually, I don't feel that I am beating my head against a brick wall, because the Bush poll numbers reflect the fact that a majority of Americans agree with me. Here in the Yahoo Answers, there seems to be a group of young people who are not politically informed enough to realize what is going on. This is strange, too, because their educational opportunities are fading, they have few jobs available, and a vicious war is calling them, as the politicians speak of a draft.

I think they like to think the Americans are superheroes, with aggressive powers able to use force to bring about changes in the world. Those of us who have lived a little longer know that force never really works, but simply cuts off young lives. War is created by groups of old men, sending young men off to die.

I don't approach the other side. I dislike their name-calling, their lack of reason and common sense, their sheer neglect of common courtesy. For a party that is supposedly Christian, battling for morality and family values, they are a laugh. I wouldn't have brought my children up to speak and act as they do, simply because someone disagrees with them.

But, I will look up this author....and thanks for the chance to do so.

LZ-As always you have the most excellent suggestions. I do as a matter of fact read alot of conservative stuff to keep up with what they are doing but have never heard of this author. So I will make it a point to read. I've seen them in the bookstore, just never read them.

The Jenkins-LaHaye thing though-it's plain scary how much people took that seriously.

Hmm i haven't read Walsch but i definitely will. reading the answers to this question makes me feel like banging my head against a wall. i hate how so many conservatives and even nonliberal democrats form biased opinions of us without even stopping to consider our ideas.

Sorry, but as somewhat of a conservative I read my conscience first and people's opinions on how to harbor or herd others into a hypnotic trance of deceit and discriminating ignorance, so I'll just stick to standing on my own two feet rather than hunker down on a biased book that doesn't bring people together.

Thank you.

Yes, it is often frustrating, trying to reason with those who have buried their heads in the sand, or those who intentionally try to mislead.

There are no walls left that can withstand the beating of so many very hard heads. At this rate the U.S. will soon be sitting on a completely flat land.
