I want to move to Colorado near or in the mountains from Dallas, but I'm not too sure if it will have the same charm when I am a permanent resident. Colorado gives me the best feeling in the world! I would like to move to a suburb west of Denver right by the mountains. Would this be worth it?

I'm actually from the United Kingdom and had visited Denver several times, it as been the only place that I have traveled to that kept calling me back and I often wondered that I came moved out here would I still have the same "feeling" about the place.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I fell in love with the city and the state so much that I took the plunge and decided to move out here and study. I have now been here for a year and I never once regret the decision that I made nor as that "feeling" gone.

I actually live right in downtown and I love the fact that I can finish my class and within 45minutes be up in those mountains. To the natives of Colorado they can get rather old but being an "outsider" so to speak they never do to me.

It is not only the mountains and the perfect scenery but also because there is so much to do outdoors all year round

I grew up in Texas mostly, so moving here was something of a shock with the amount of unfriendly people. We live in Castle Rock now and we have regretted moving that far from the greater Denver area. We will be moving out of state and will not look back! Douglas county is mostly filled with snobbish, rich people. The only plus about Colorado is the amount of sunny days but the snow can be pretty bad...especially last year. I can't say everyone is rude but If you are used to the friendly greetings from Texas, Colorado people will definitely be a disappointment.

I live in a small town about 2 hours from Denver and I think living inside Denver is a little to hectic, but most of the small towns surrounding Denver are much closer to ski resorts and a lot more fun. Golden is a good place it's close to Denver and close to the mountains too, or you could check into Silverthorne, Dillon or Frisco, total ski towns with lots of snow in the winter, and the clubs are great. It really comes to life up here in the winter.

Denver is absolutely a great place to live. I moved here four years ago and I could not be happier. People are friendly, it's really laid-back, good jobs and trust me, you never forget how lucky you are to live in such a beautiful place. There are a bunch of neighborhoods to choose from on the West side of Denver and western suburbs are also great. I used www.hubbuzz.com recently to get neighborhood information for Denver. I found it really helpful. They have lots of neighborhood photos, maps, hotspots (bars, restaurants, parks, gyms, lakes) all on the map. There is also a really great write-up for each Denver neighborhood that tells you everything you'd need to know, it has real personality. Check out this link if you are interested http://www.hubbuzz.com/Denver/Highlands-JeffersonPark/NeighborhoodOverview.aspx. I would highly recommend moving to Denver.

I live in Breckenridge, and yes, it is expensive, and yes, you get the reality check because you have to work to pay the bills and not just act like you're on vacation 24-7, however....I absolutely love it here, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Out of my back door, I can downhill ski, nordic ski, road bike, mountain bike, run, hike, go to events, waterski down on Green Mountain Reservoir, and basically live the life when I have my days off and evenings off! Here's the big plus- no fighting weekend traffic on 1-70 during ski season!

If you can find a good job here in the mountains, no doubt you'll be a "lifer".

PS- we may have some storms from time to time, but they blow in and out so quickly that it never really ruins a full day.

Im not going to rain on your moving parade, but I would rather go there just to visit because almost everyday in the Summer it rains or storms. But they only last for a short period of time. However I would have to agree with everything else that Colorado (Denver/mts) aera is very pretty. But anyway I would rather go there to Visit not to Live.

Absolutely!!!! The area had a wide variety of jobs, prices for housing, and lots to do. There's plenty of snow sports, but also water sports, jogging and biking paths, parks, entertainment, night life, good higher education, cultural and sporting venues............and, a myriad of dining choices!!!!!! The Denver area has it all!

I dont live thre but I have been seriously considering this myself. It is an expensive place to live. I have actually toyed with giving up the real job and heaing up to vail to work in the resorts for a year or so to recharge. Let me know what you decide. Good luck!
