When I was really young, about 11 years ago I remeber watching this Wizard of Oz type movie on t.v. It wasnt the Wiz the main actors were white...The big differences were that the witch had changing faces...like and angry and happy one and the tin man was wider, the costume was different he seemed shorter and fatter.
This has bugged me for years does anyone have any idea what movie I was watching??

...sounds like you're talking about the 1985 Disney film, "Return to Oz"; in the film, the evil witch Mombi had varied interchangable heads, and the new live-action rendition of the Tin Man, for this film, was substantially different from the MGM version, and in fact, was based upon original drawings, which author L. Frank Baum used for his 'Oz' novels...

...nothing like the last minute for this, but there WAS another mechanized citizen in this movie, as well; he was called Tik-Tok, the last surviving member of the Army of Oz. He required constant winding, like a watch, and he definately matches the basic description you're given...
(...sorry about not remembering this, before; I had not seen the film in years, and when you mentioned the Tin Man, that's the only thing I keyed in on. I got suspicious, as to whether I provided ALL the information you wanted, when I saw the 'thumbs down'; the Tin Man only showed up at the end of the film, whereas Tik-Tok was a major character throughout the film. Anyways, I thought I'd jump in, real quick, for the save, and secure my reputation as a master movie maestro!!!...Heh! Heh! Heh!)

RETURN TO OZ is most likely the movie you are recalling. It would be one to stick in someone's head as it was a "shock" to many, that were expecting the feel of The WIZARD OF OZ.
RTO is much darker, and intorduced many new Oz characters that can be found in L. Frank Baum's other Oz books.
The Tin Man was first seen in RTO to have been turned to stone along with the other Emerald City inhabitants. I believe you are referring to Tik Tok which was made of copper or brass and was shorter than the Tin Man and very round indeed. Tik Tok is the Royal Army of Oz and Dorothy finds him when she uses her OZ key to enter a hidden stone room while hiding from the Wheelers.
If Dorothy was seen wandering Oz with a chicken and not a dog then RETURN TO OZ is the movie.

In 1985 there was a movie called "Return to Oz" that sounds much like the movie you are describing.
