Think about it. No front porches=no front porch swings.

I know, right! And, I even liked the front porch rocking chairs too! My Mom and Dad built a house a couple of years ago and made sure to include the front porch to sit and relax...and, they can't see the road from their porch either. Soooo nice and peaceful out there, it's pretty awesome!

Only thing missing is the tire swing over the creek...creeks not wide/deep enough yet!

I love this question Billy, and I love my front porch. Honestly I don't think that porches are very important to many anymore. Just look at the way they're building houses now. Sadly the art of just sitting on your front porch and enjoying the day, seems to be a thing of the past.

I am going to have to agree to this one. I can remember when the whole neighborhood sat on the Miller's front porch. The new owners of the house blocked it in for a room...and the neighborhood was never the same. We all sit in my backyard now but I miss calling over the people walking past with their kids on trikes or walking the dog. Just remember when you walk past my house...laughter coming from the backyard is an open invitation to drop in.

Civilization will end using individuals, it quite is inevitable. it will be our very own fault. the determination could be as much as to the individuals on how we use transportation and our way of existence. We people exchange into reckless with each and every era. i think of that's going to end quickly (quickly as in a hundred-one hundred fifty years) if people do no longer exchange the way we are residing precise now. We have already got a great hollow interior the o zone layer, and glaciers and polar ice caps are melting, upward push in sea ranges, deadlier weathers. i think of beforehand civilization ceases many lives would be taken harshly, very HARSHLY. beforehand the top it will be 10X typhoon Katrina's. additionally there could be a astroid yet, no longer something we can do approximately that. yet i think of that civilization will end beforehand an (astroid/metero/comet/ watever is the biggest) hits.

now that you mention, i now appreciate the life style i had when i was still in the philippines, wherein every afternoon we gather in front of the house, chat, talk about people, talk about ourselves lol the gossiping. lol it may sound rude but the family ties out there is really strong, unlike here in singapore wherein most houses are high rised, things are different.

i do not know that the reason was so simple, but i guess that no swings could have been a contributing factor...at least in countries civilized enough to miss those things.
