It is up to you - I would fix it - it only has 58K so it would be wise not to junk it now.

I dont know who told that guy a car only lasts 10 years....

I have several cars that are much older than 10 years old, and they all run just fine.

If you can afford the new 1spent the $1500. on the down payment. There are deals out there Dodge in florida WPB sell for dealer invoice + rebates. Look on line an call as internet sale is a better price than walking in the front door. An don't be afraid to ask for dealer invoice price if they say they don't sell that way say good by as there are 1s that will $$$ check on line for rebates before you go there as they might not tell you about them. Happy hunting.

12 years and 58K aren't very high figures if the car is in overall decent shape, and $1500 isn't a whole lot either. How long did you plan on keeping the car? There are lots of newer cars in your price range that have more miles than what yours
has.

wow that old with those low miles. id keep it. any car will last over half million miles if you properly take care of it. and most people dont know all those things. and yes i would get the repair. if you do decide to keep it you should do the following if you havent to enhance the life of your car.
tranny fluid and filter change
power steering fluid change
full brake job
replace oil with a high mileage oil
rotate tires
flush your radiator
replace hoses in the engine bay
many more.

i recommend getting a repair manual.

From experience once a car starts falling apart, its better to trade it in. You will probably end up having to splurge on constantly having to repair it. No matter how good a mechanic you get, the problems usually re-emerge.

Just get out while you're ahead and buy a newer car.

i have a van that was made in 88. i have a few minor things wrong with it. would i pay 1500 to fix it? probably not. i would go with a newer vehicle. 10k could probably get you a new car. kia's are cheap. of course theyre also crap from what i hear. but to answer your question, no i would not try to fix it.

if you fix it you may get some more time from the vehicle, but you may not you might find your self shelling out repair money on the regular. id go buy a year or two old certifed used car

Regardless of mileage, the average life of a vehicle is 10 years, you are at 12 years, so you have gotten a couple of 'free' years.

But it will be your choice, based on your needs, so you decide.
