TV Cards for PCs are very easy to install and relatively inexpensive however the issue you are still going to have is the reception. You will still need the equivalant of a roof antenna or cable.

It is similar to saying I want to watch TV off of my VCR except there is no source to grab the signal.

Once you have it though, it is great. it is like having your own Digital Video recorder.

Good luck.

Hi :) Do you really have to go threw all that on a desktop? Couldn't you just put the movie in and watch? I have a laptop, on the side of it there is a place where you can put in a cd or movie. Don't know much about the desktops, but I do think there should be a way without haveing to hook up a bunch of stuff.

There are lots of options.

1.
If you can get OTA TV with an indoor antenna, get a TV tuner for your computer.

2.
Buy, rent, or get from your library the shows on DVD's. You can use a freeware program called "VLC" to play them.

3.
If you have high speed Internet there are a few more options:

a. some TV networks actually have their web sites set up so you can stream their shows

b. there are a bunch of companies trying to get into the streaming IPTV business. They tend to require that you install their proprietary software on your computer. Try www.getmiro.com

c. not particularly legal, but you can download TV shows as torrent files. Do a google search for "torrents".

d. Get a friend who does get TV to install a "Slingbox". This acts as a TV receiver and sends the shows to you over the internet

4.
Get/bribe someone to record the shows you want on a DVD recorder and send them to you.

A TV card and And an Antenna.
And if you have only one Antenna thats OK if you would boost its signal, I mean you can buy a TV booster ( There aren't expensive ) that allows you to have even more than 10 TVs at your home!

If you need to watch satellite on your desktop You can buy a satellite card and a dish, and watch satellite too. If you wanna connect your satellite card and your satellite receiver to one dish, you would need Two LNBs. So there is no problem.

If you wanted to buy a satellite card, buy THIS one: SkyStar 2 (WWW.technisat.com)
Because it has free Internet receive up to 2GB Internet speed per second. ITS GREAT!
