This came out on Fox news of all places by a frequent guest of Greta's attorney John Feiger.

Remnants of the Nixon era anybody?

Open4one- I see your point, but if I understood the gentleman correctly it was before everyone else had thrown there hats in the ring. At the time that this happened Edwards was really the only definate candidate. The other thing is the Justice Department apparrently can monitor campaign contributions and ask for those records or "raid" for them. What happened to "No unlawful search and siezure"?

You're missing the point people. It's not about Fieger it's about the abuse of power of the Bush Administration. Is the president allowed to use the power of the justice department for political reasons?

I don't think so.

Given that people who vote Democrat have a 3 times higher crime rate than the rest of the country.. maybe the DNC leadership started acting like their voting block and got caught.

Well, okay, let's assume that's true.

What's motive does "King George" have?

Edwards hasn't a chance at being the nominee, and he knows it. His only intention is to stay in long enough to get matching funds and some publicity for his law practice. George isn't running for anything.

What does he have to gain? I see nothing.

On the other hand, there still might be a reason for such raids. It is entirely possible that they had a warrant. In fact, I find this likely. Even the "chimp" would remember Watergate, so if the raids happened, there were probably warrants.

Now, what does a warrant mean, exactly? At a minimum, it means that someone had "probable cause" to believe there was evidence of a particular crime in a particular place, and a judge agreed that it was reasonable to expect to find it there.

On the other hand, what if it isn't true? What if the Edwards campaign is just putting out these baseless allegations that raids happened, when in fact they did not? Why would he do that, other than to get publicity and smear the Administration? Would a Democratic Presidential candidate who is so far behind he has nothing to lose do this?

The justice department was conducting a raid on an attorney that was suspected of criminal acts. This was not an attempt to gather information about John Edwards. Nixon sent a covert group to steal information about an opposition candidate thatw as in a locked safe. The two situations are extremely different.

Coming from Michigan, and having known about Geoffrey Fieger for decades, let me tell you this - he is not known to be a paragon of honesty or integrity.

Even though I do think he did a heckuva job on the back-up vocals for "My Sherona".

But you haven't proven that this is abuse of power. All you have is the not-so-truthful Mr. Fieger's word, and that's not good enough.

If there is abuse of power, that should be easily proven by someone who isn't a partisan political hack.

It really makes no sense, because Bush is not up for re-election, and Edwards has virtually no chance to be the democrat nominee. I'm just wondering...did you mean Geoffry Feiger...the attorney who defended Kevorkian...and lost an election as a democrat in Michigan? Nice credentials.

and you believe John Feiger?,.....he is not a news person, just a guest on Gretta's show,.....and besides why would anybody want information on Edwards,.....He has no chance what so ever to even get the nomination for the democrat candidate for president,......

If anyone thinks bush is ready to give up the so called authority he has grabbed for himself, think again. He will do ANYTHING to stay in power.
