Yesterday there was a accident on the Highway..both sides of the expressway was backed up for miles..YES all 3 lanes were OPEN but the Gawkers and rubber-neckers stopped like the idiots they are get an eye full of the wreck and of course back-up traffic for MILES & MILES...when I came up on the accident we had to wait a few seconds for the morons in front of us to look...as soon as I could get around them and speed up there must have been 1/2 mile behind me and the idiot Gawkers behind us...further holding up traffic behind us.

They have got to teach these people how stupid & rude they are...Can they be taught??

They are idiots, and have no regard for what anyone thinks of them. Several weeks ago I was on the freeway, and there was a minor accident (off to the shoulder) about 4 miles ahead that had everyone backed up for miles behind. There was one driver abreast of me when we were at the scene, and that moron very nearly stopped in his lane to have a good long look. I was livid. Everyone else was glad to be past this area and get on down the road.

Has anyone else noticed the epidemic of people turning right on red signals slowing just enough to not roll their cars?
They just roll on through and dont seem to care about oncoming traffic. I work 12 miles from my home and had 3 do this going to and 2 do it coming home.

Makes me crazy.

I think you misunderstand the cause of the traffic flow disruption. There may be some few who slow down to look, but traffic can be disrupted for a very long time after an accident. If the collision was significant enough, drivers on the other side of the divider may have made avoidance maneuvers that disrupted flow.

These prolonged slowups for no real cause are called phantom traffic jams. They have more to do with variable rates of speed and lane changes.

I can understand slowing down a bit to allow for safety of the responders to do what they need to do. But the gawkers are ridiculous. Especially on the other side of the highway.
