There are different ways to make this happen. You can buy The Instant Hotspot® Wi-Fi hotspot access point controller enables individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses to provide high speed wireless internet service without the need for implementing the back-office systems commonly required, although that feature does exist (a standard RADIUS client is included for customer roaming), if desired.

Small businesses can now turn on Wi-Fi hotspots to compete with better known rivals without the hassle of setting up the whole service themselves, according to Cisco Systems' Linksys division and Boingo Wireless, which on Wednesday announced what they call Hot Spot in a Box.

If all you want to do is make 3 locations a wi fi spot, install Access Points (not routers) in each of those locations with whatever security you deem necessary.

The cheap but good ones are from Linksys. The better ones are from Cisco (about $390 per access point).

All you need in each location is an ethernet port. If the area to be covered is large, you may need a range expander to cover the entire area.

buy a cisco switch, set up vlans properly, have the principal as vlan 1 and everything else as vlan 2, smile.

A hotspot is an open wireless access point, if you want that then plug in a wireless access point to a LAN port, people connecting to this will require a wireless NIC, if you want to link 2 wireless access points together you'll need a wireless bridge.

If you were REALLY a "computer instructor" you'd not be asking that question! Nice try, though!
