Another reason I can't vote for this pervert. Along with Obama's teach kids sex in pre-school; I have to wonder how far out of touch with reality politicians are.

Sex ed is a must in public schools. If the state you live in has recognized same sex marriages as being legal, than yes that can be included in the curriclum. Every state requires parents to sign off on thier child's participation in sex ed. If the feel the content goes against their own beliefs or contains information they do not want the child exsposed to, they can refuse to allow thier child to attend these classes. I am more prone to vote for a politician who supports a strong sex ed program than for one who supports the idea of requiring schools to teach abstinence only programs. Your idea of "learning on thier own" can lead to some very scarey and life threatening results. Education is never wasted.
And one other thing...there is a reason the schools have had to teach and include sex ed in the curriculum. It was because the teen pregnancy and STD rates in high schoolers went through the roof in the 80's and parents were furious for the schools not doing something about it. Yes, it is a parent's right to teach thier kids about the facts of life in a way that is supported by thier religous and moral beliefs, but the sad fact is there are far more parents out there who simply don't say anything. Schools that have students sign abstinence pledges or promote absitinence only instead of a well rounded sex ed curriculum have seen a drop in pregnancy...but huge increases in STD's that can be spread without pentatrative contact. Our girls aren't getting pregnant, but they are getting HPV, herpes and HIV. In the past 15 years, schools have had to take on more and more responsbility...get the kids ready for college, keep them safe, don't punish them, keep them from getting pregnant..because parents have demanded it. Believe me when I say a school would rather use the money it spends on a sex ed curriculum to pay for another math class...but parents complained, lobbied and in the end, voted to make these classes mandatory.

I would.
if your kids are straight, then they will always be straight.
I say this because it sounds like you are thinking that this will make your children gay.
there may be children in the class with gay parents. its good to introduce the subject to the class and not let the children be confused or insult each other for having different families.
kids should always be taught non-violence, acceptance of others, and have their questions answered as best they can by both teachers and parents (sadly some parents don't always do this)
schools teach the general public. there are racist and homophobic teachers out there who must be fair to all their students, and they must teach their students to be fair. and homophobic and racist students must interact with students they don't like.
morally you may think homosexuality is wrong, but scientificly there is nothing wrong with it. send your children to a religious based-school if you want morality taught over science.
-obama said children should be taught about inappropriate touching during 'sex ed'. unless you'd rather risk a child being molested and not know that what is being done to them is wrong, you should have no issues with this-

i agree 100% first off i don't want my kids to learn about love and marriage from school that is from home and church and i really don't want someone telling my kids same sex marriage is OK. it is not. the bible says so. My God says so. so defend it all you want. but i know what God has said to be wrong. I will teach my children that. not to judge them for it but to not do it. to reach the world we must go in it. so i would never tell my children not to be friend someone gay but i would not tolerate one of my children being gay.
i know this may offend some but iam sorry i must stand up for what is right in God's eyes. i will not back down on something because it isn't politically correct.

Schools have a difficult enough time teaching our kids to read, write, comprehend English, Math and Science. History is a disaster. But they can be entrusted to teach about something that is as complex as sexuality, relationships and marriage? I don't want my kids learning about marriage (gay or straight) in school. These are things they should learn from their parents.

It is not prejudice, it's called a clear line between right & wrong behavior.
The schools job is to teach reading, writing & arithmetic.
Hitler used the schools too so he could mould the minds of the next generation to accept wrong as right.
Woe to those who call that which is right, wrong & that which is wrong, right.
The teachers try to usurp the role & authority of the parents, but parents are fighting back & winning.

this is EXACTLY why I'm against same sex marriage. Dammit there are still plenty of us out here who believe homosexuality is WRONG and we have a constitutional right to those beliefs as well as the right to instill those values into our children.
If you are gay, keep your lifestyle to yourself. STAY AWAY FROM OUR CHILDREN.
here's an idea. how about teaching our kids how to read and write? how about some history and economics? what about that? How about some technical skills so our jobs stop getting shipped over to India?

Thank goodness I attended grade school when the focus was mostly on the three Rs.
The PC / self-esteem movement was just getting going when I was a grade schooler.... the thing I remember is one day a group came to school and told us how wonderful we all were... they handed out buttons to wear that had the acronym "IALAC", which stood for "I am lovable and capable." When I think back on that I just shake my head... what a joke.

First of all, Obama did not support sex ed for pre schoolers. That was taken out of context.
And you want prejudice taught in schools
