The pre-match speculation was that the pitch will be bouncy. But it turned out to be a batting paradise.Even otherwise there is not much difference between the two teams to expect India to surrender the initiative.

You can't help it can you. England in August the wickets are like this as far as I can remember. You should invite the South Asian teams in the early May to play in cold, foggy, wet, green and utterly miserable conditions if you want to win. You did that to the Sri Lankans last year and behold the English limped away with the tails between the legs. Same thing happened during the 1999 WC. When you could have had a beautiful tournament in the sun, ECB opted for conditions better suited to them and behold got thrown out of the WC in the group stages it self .... lol.

The thing is you can't hide an incompetent team how hard you try. No point blaming the wicket. We tried that a long long time back. Just a waste of time. Thought English cricket has come around to the pre 1987 era with the Ashes win of 2005. Guess it's just a dream.
English are better off sucking "jelly beans" rather :-)

There was no guarantee that England would have won if they prepared the pitch at Oval favouring England Bowlers as Indian bowlers could have also exploited the condition as was
done in the 2nd test.
