I bought a second hand Advent laptop, the recovery cd was not supplied but it says in the online manual to press f10 at boot up to access the recovery partition, but i'm doing this and its not happening.

The partition hasn't been deleted as when I check HDD capacity it says 37gb its supposed to be 40gb so I assuming the other 3gb is the hidden partition but how do I access it?

In most cases the recovery partition allows you to burn it to a disk or set of disks, but it usually only allows you to do this one time. So if the person that sold you the computer has already done this and did not give you these disks, you probably won't be able to burn your own system back up. You may be able to purchase this back up from Advent.

This is always a problem when buying "used" computers.
