Usually A central ac unit is "centerally located as to move the air equally within the house..if the unit is moved and is more to one side of the house, it is possible to lose the correct air flow to the further side of the house..If you try to duct in to the original duct centrally located you then have 50 additional feet to force the air through, and will lose the volume and force of the air intended... I wouldn't suggest it for you may end up moving it back to where it was...for example take a regular box fan...put it close to you you feel it..put it 50 feet away, you will not..if at all..it will be "very minimal"...

Depends if your refering to the FAU (forced air unit ) in the attic or the condenser unit outside.

1. moving the FAU unit in the attic, you will have to provide a new opening for the service tech to access the unit, lighting above and electrical outlet for the unit. airflow will be affected slightly.

2. moving the condenser outdoors requires the same. electrical, refrigerant lines, thermostat wires.

Before you move it, talk with an air conditioning company. 50 feet is a long move.
