I pulled out some old records, yes records, and played his greatest hits. Remember Catch the Wind?

Yes. He was Scotland's answer to Bob Dylan. He wrote one of his songs about his lady love, Jennifer,Juniper.....Do you know who SHE was?

I'm not a senior but I have his songbooks.

The song "Mellow Yellow" is probably what comes to mind when you say "Donovan". I remember it as a CocaCola drink of the same name.

Chorus goes like this:

They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow
(Quite rightly)
They call me mellow yellow

A pity about his life down the fast lane with drugs. Got his life back together and now still performing concerts today.

Shelley M., Donovan has lived in Joshua Tree, CA for years. At least the last time I heard about him, several months ago.

He still does the occasional gig.

Those were some of the best memories of the 60's.

Wow - I can't believe this question is in the "Senior" section.... we must be getting old! Donovan had his heyday back in the late '60s when I was in Jr. High. I still have his "Greatest Hits" LP, and had my two favorite songs of his downloaded onto a CD: "Jennifer Juniper" and "Wear Your Love Like Heaven"; BOTH great classics!!! I wonder what became of him.... he must still be alive somewhere!

And there was one Way Down... . I got some records and recorded them onto my computer. I can now make cd's if I want. I got an old Juke box and was looking for vinyl. I was talking about it one day, and a lady said that she had some. Her husband had worked on them in the 60's. I was fortunate to get some good ones.

Ah, but I may as well try to catch the wind.

One of his better tunes, to be sure. I also like Sunshine Superman, Epistle to Dippy, Season of the Witch, Atlantis, Riki Tiki Tavi, and Claira Clairvoyant. He was a few years before my time, but I dig him nonetheless.

All my lifestyles i've got been listening to that Bob Dylan won't be able to sing, yet to me his voice is suited for the lyrics he focuses on, and that i think of that's what makes any singer great. Dylan could be terrible attempting to sing "whilst the moon hits your eye like a brilliant pizza pie / it somewhat is amore." yet nonetheless, Dean Martin could be terrible attempting to sing "i've got been double crossed now for the very final time, and now i'm ultimately loose / I kiss see you later the howling beast on the borderline that separated you from me." i'm going to pass with Merv Griffin through fact the main appallingly undesirable singer i've got ever heard, through fact i do no longer think of there is ANY lyric that he could be stable at.

I remember everything about Donovan. I think I must have and still am his number one fan. I even named my daughter Jennifer because of Jennifer Juniper. I couldn`t find that one on You Tube but this one is almost as good.
