Weak and stupid...laughter at something you think is serious can hurt like needles against skin.

If I delivered that warning in a non joking way; I feel that either they do not believe I am capable of following up on my warning or they have no respect for me... or I feel they are just idiots, plain and simple. Most of the time they just are idiots...

This is one of the few problems I have never had. That's because when I am serious. My demeanor changes. I look them directly in the eye. I slow the tone of any previous conversation, and if I still Have doubts that they are not hearing me, I say "I am not joking". Remember also, that sometimes when people want to ignore what you say, they will pretend to you, that they think you are teasing. Especially guys. It is a passive aggressive threat.

I usually make sure they know I am not joking straight away. At my work I am a lead person, so I have to let people know where they stand right from the get go.

Annoying! I warned someone one cold winter, "Don't slide down the hill! It's too slippery!" But, instead of listening to me, he slid down, flipped over, flew across the air, and smacked right into someone's car. I yelled at him, "What did I tell you dumbass!"

it's irritating.when you warn someone,it generally means you really don't want to take drastic measures, when someone treats that as a joke, you see that you really have little other choice...

Well usually it's my kids who don't take my warnings seriously, so it pisses me off - they find that even funnier ;)
