I personally think you should keep your name and be proud. Because when you really think about it, there's no such thing as an "American" name because the United States is made up of immigrants or the descendants of. Unless, of course, they're Native Indians. Even names here in the United States that are deemed "American" are often derived from England or somewhere else. And you know what? I love the mix. I think it's probably the coolest thing about this country is that SO many people from SO many places live here. And I personally LOVE meeting immigrants and learning about them and their culture, and their names go right along with that. :)
Plus, how would you get used to a name after so long of hearing it? I'd change my name simply because I don't connect with or feel like a Jackie, but I'm so used to hearing it now it's like "Oh, well. . ."

depends on who youre asking... My daughter is Chloe Madeline.... I talked tp a lady whose girls' names are Georgia and Carolina. I never thought of naming my kid after a state until i heard Carolina. I think that name is goegeous!!!!

If you go online to the social security administration (or several other sites out there), you can find a list pf popular baby names.

I think tran is a pretty name.... I would just use that as your first name. Its original. There will be very few ppl with your name. Congrats on the citizenship!

Good luck!

I agree with Cindy V -- be proud of your heritage and keep your own name, just add a new American name to the front.

Here are some very cool yet feminine names for you:

* Tamera *
Pronounced TAM-ruh, this name means "a spice tree". Nicknames: Tammie, Tammy, or Tammi

* Angela *
Pronounced AN-jeh-luh, this name means "a heavenly messenger or angel".
Nicknames: Angie, Ange

* Nina *
Pronounced NEE-nuh, this name means "favored by God"
(no nicknames)

* Elise *
Pronounced uh-LEES, this name means "dedicated to God"
Nicknames: Lee, Ellie

* Ava *
Pronounced AY-vuh, this name means "an eagle"
(no nicknames)

Congratulations and best wishes to you!

Congrats on becoming a US citizen but why on earth do you want to change your name??? Is your real name hard to pronounce? If we knew your real name maybe we all could try to give you suggestions on names that are easier to pronounce but still resemble and sound like your real name.

Keep both your names just add a new first name. Don't lose all your heritage just because you are becoming a US citizen.

What about
Amelia Tran
Renee Tran
Jasmine Tran
Rebecca Tran
Sarah Tran
Eliza Tran
Elise Tran
Louise Tran

Hope that helps and congratualtions.

Emma is a very pretty name and I think it goes well with your last name, as for your middle name keep it to have some connection with who you really are

Martha.

It just sounds very simple and feminine, doesn't it? Martha is a very practical sort of person too.

How many Martha's get arrested in Hollywood from DUI, drugs, etc?

(On the other hand, there's Martha Stewart. So she goes to jail for trying not to lose money ... she's still got class, hasn't she?)
