I really enjoy the Sherlock Holmes books by Arthur Conan Doyle. They are classics. I would consider them to be mysteries and adventures.

In newer series, I enjoy the "spy" books by authors such as Robert Ludlum and Nelson DeMille. (There are other good authors but the names are slipping my mind right now.) Most of them involve government agents or former agents who have adventures around the world.

Check out these authors: Stuart Woods, James Doss, John Dunning for mysteries. For mystery/thriller in my opinion the best are Matthew Reilly-Contest, Ice Station, Area 7, Seven Deadly Wonders, Temple(my favorite), Scarecrow; James Rollins-Amazonia, Ice Limit, etc.; Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child wrote the first book in an ongoing series starting with Relic, then Reliquary and so on starring FBI Special Agent Pendergast; Jack DuBrul-last book was Havoc and his hero is named Mercer, excellent who-done-it reads. One of the first mystery thriller best sellers are from Clive Cussler whose heroes are Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino. These are all wonderful reads in my opinion. Get reading and enjoy them all.
