Given that during the key hour that seems to be disputed they were in the middle of the quiz. And given that they all seemed to be coming and going every few minutes to check on their kids (given their statements) there's no way they could have paid attention to what was going on in the quiz.

And yet with them all getting up and leaving every few minutes no-one seemed to have noticed the constant disruption from their table (since in most 'quiz nights' Ive been in, most people sit at their tables and its pretty obvious when people are constantly moving about as the McCann and co clan claimed to be).

Saraleon - You call it 'exaggerate the number of times they checked'. I call it delibrately giving false statements, which is perverting the course of justice. And ultimately in doing so, hindered the search for their daughter. So they are more interested in protecting their reputations than finding their daughter. What does that tell you about these two?

First of all Good answer Ladybugs77,
And makes me wonder why the media have not interviewed the restaurant staff or the mcCanns so damn believable ???

Lastly and most importantly, when here at home no parent acts this way, and what happens when kids are with them at a pub somewhere they are with them all the time, even if 1 child needs the loo 1 parent goes with them, and the other stays with the other child, SO PLEASE WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UK AND PORTUGAL BECAUSE I REALLY DON'T GET IT ATALL!!!!
Why did they not pay for childcare ?
oh apparently was too much money, aww what price your childs freedom and security? if you are not gonna look after them till they know how to look after themselves then plz
don't have them ! I also think they should be prosecuted for NEGLECT, i mean what else is it ?

I thought, right from the beginning, that things didn't add up with what they said. If they reckon one of their group checked on the 3 children, the "abductor" would have needed to be extremely quick. And why don't the statements given by the McCanns and their friends all match?

Don't forget they are supposed to have killed their child and got rid of her body and then participated in the quiz as though nothing had happened. No I'm sure they didn't win.

I think the McCanns and friends may well have exaggerated the number of visits they made, so that it isn't thought they left their kids alone for a considerable length of time. I would not be surprised if that was the subject of the e-mails.

If they were at a quiz and kept leaving the table then I'm sure at least one of the other teams would have complained about them possibly cheating - serious quizzers can get very territorial when it comes to their quizzes!!

Just more unanswered questions that aren't really going to help find poor Maddie.

To right Dave, i totally agree with you. It's all lies from the McCanns, they wouldn't admit that they didn't check on them every few minutes and sure everyone knows there lying and the ones who believe them are just gullible. The lying makes them look more guilty

Isn't strange that nobody believes the restaurant staff and other guests that stated they never saw anyone leave that table between 7-10. I waitressed plenty pre parenting days and I always knew if one of my customers were at the table or not. So I dont know....for me anyway I would believe the waitstaff side of the story.

if youve ever had any experience of doctors in hospital youll know they live in their own time zone. they think they are keeping you waiting five minutes when its actually five hours. they have no real concept of time.they honestly believe they checked on the kids every few minutes.in their minds they did.

if they were up and down every few minutes wouldnt it have made more sense to either stay in with them or have the children with them or use the babysitting service or the creche

I agree with you and joe k. We are only hearing one side of the story and we don't know if that is right or not. I can't help thinking there is more to all this then meets the eye.
