Obama said if Pakistan won't get the terrorists we will, alot of people tried to turn this around into him saying something else but he stuck by what he said. I respect that

Gulianni made an asinine comment about him doing as much as the 9.11 rescue workers. It was stupid but he must have believed it to say it, but as soon as he is called on it he backs down.

Romney says his sons are serving by supporting him and people misconstrue it to mean he said his sons are doing as much as the soldiers... THATS NOT WHAT HE SAID, but instead of pointing that out he backs down.

Kerry made a joke about Bush, people thought it was about our troops THATS NOT WHAT HE SAID but he backed down.

I'm tired of the politicians letting everyone put words in their mouths then apologizing for it. I would have much more respect for them if they said said something like "your wrong thats not what I said, it's on tape go back and look". What do you think?

Kerry tried that when he was running for President, they pulled the tape and he said what he said. The problem is that alot of things can have multiple underlying meanings. Politicians try to straddle the fence so they cannot be pinned down on any topic and thus appeal to everyone. Guiliani probably thinks he worked just as hard doing what he did as the 9/11 workers. But when you compare an Office worker to a Firefighter or Policeman it is difficult to defend that the Office worker works hard. Sure the Office worker types on that keyboard with all of their abilities, but the Firefighter and Policeman put their lives on the line everytime they go on a call! Not a good comparasion.

Politicians say things and they are often taken out of context by the media because that's what the media does and it is usually a part of their job to be offensive and go out of their way to create a story. The media is powerful and can either make or break a candidate and I suppose that is why the politicians are backing down rather than say the media took their words out of context. Notice that Kerry is not running this go around. That being said, I would love it for politicians to stand up for themselves and would love it even more if they would manage to keep themselves accountable for their campaign promises.

I would respect them more if they said what they really believed instead of what their party believes. No one agrees with everything their party says. They can't. It would mean they do not have a mind of their own. Can you imagine a brainstorming session where everyone thought the same? Think any problem could get solved? No new ideas? I wish they would just stand up and state what is on their minds and let us go from there.

I would respect politians more if they would NOT promise what they know in their hearts they can never deliver when in office!!! I would also respect them more if they stuck to the issues we face as a nation, and NOT throw mud at each other.

Politians all come from the top end of town and have no respect for the average person . I would have a little more respect for them if they had respect for them selves.

I'm voting Ron Paul for this reason. He has integrity. I don't like EVERY position he holds but I like 90% of them and based on his consistent voting track record, I believe he has principles he votes by and will continue to vote by. I respect that.
