Next time you use it, after 10-15 minutes, feel around the plug and socket, for heat. It's probably a loose connection or poor plug/socket contacts which will heat the plastic moulding and cause the fishy smell.

I'm not sure if the smell is called like that, but yes it smells something bad. I don't really know the causes why and I was wondering if my clothes do smells really bad even after washing it. I tried asking it from the electronic shops where I bought mine and they told me that new washing machine would tend to smell on the first days of using because of the coating inside. But after a few weeks of constant using it, the smell will disappear. So don't worry. Just try to use some laundry freshener while doing your washing so your clothes won't smell bad that too.

It might sound silly but check your mains plug next time. It may be getting hot and causing the plastic to burn a bit if the fuses is a bit loose in it or it's the wrong type. I had it once with an oil-filled radiator - we couldn't fathom what the smell was until i noticed the plug was gradually going brown from the scorching it was getting ! ! !

Hi, I think it could be the plug getting hot! Please check it out as this could cause a fire in your home.
You may have the wrong fuse in the plug. You should get it looked at before using the machine again. (DONT FORGET TO MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE DRY, THAT THERE IS NO WATER WHERE YOU ARE STANDING AND PLUG SWITCH IS OFF, BEFORE TOUCHING THE PLUG).

Don't know how long you've had it or how many times it's been run, but "new" rubber sometimes smells like that when warmed up - perhaps the hoses? If that's it, it should fade with use.
