My sister came yesterday, and the present she brought was wonderful. Sorry if it sounds a long story but I just have to share this one!

Sis still lives in my home town. They have had a Heritage Day, it was funded by the National Lottery. On display were things from the local museum and old photos of where I lived!

They also made a book with audio tape which my sis bought me. There is a photo of my Grandad in there, ( who I adored) taken in 1947 when he was a founder member of a social club, which is still there today, except it's bigger and modern now.

On the display was an original photo of my mum with her mum, which I've never seen and my sis has ordered a copy for me. That is so special cos I lost my mum when she was 32.
In those days, no one could afford a home camera like we have today, so there are hardly any photos of mum with her mum and I'm just so lucky I will soon have one!

So my question is : How can my day get better than that? x

I recently managed to get some photos of my Mum and her sister who was our favourite Aunty, taken when Mum was about eighteen and Aunty was sixteen in 1914 just before the first World War,so I can imagine how pleased you must be to have them. My Grandad was in one photo, I just remember being taken to see him when I was six years old in 1940, he was ill in bed and I looked under the bed and found a wooden truncheon, he used to be a special constable. He died soon after and I suppose he was in his final days when I saw him.

What a nice story. It's true the little things can mean the most.A precious gift from a precious sister. The picture's like capturing a piece of history that was lost.My husband was doing work for a local woman who had known my mum as a young girl and she gave him a pic of mum when she was 21 and this was extra special as there are no other photos of her again until her thirties.I know how it can get better though I forsee lots of generous people lauding your good fortune.

God Bless you Hon. You sound like a very sweet lady who is so appreciative of such a seemingly small gift. You obviously still remember your dear mother. as a loving daughter would do. I imagine you still think of your mother every day, even though she has been in Heaven all these years. Thank you so much for sharing your joy with all us strangers.
Your day cannot get any better ! ENJOY !

That sounded wonderful...wish I could have been there...

Hey! I know!

The only way your day could get any better is getting an answer from me (I'm sending you flowers and champagne, mind you...)

And then graciously giving me best answer and starring all of my questions forever...

And continue giving me your undying love and devotion...

This gift of making your day even better, I give to you free of charge...Love, John...

That is so great! I am the family historian and I had a similar situation. My auntie gave me a photo of my great grandmother and grandfather. I love those pictures, so I know how you feel.

Best pressie yet, and really Midnite Rambler, us practised Linedancers do not fall on our butts. We stay upright till we fall into bed at the end of the night, through exhaustion of not leaving the dance floor as "oh I know that one too" and we keep on dancin. lol.
