Once they are in office, do they have to give back any extra donations they received while on the campaign trail?

If you look in the washingtonpost.com under election finances you will find Clinton had a substantial amount left from campaigning for senator that was used for this presidential campaign. This also shows she had every intention of running for president when she ran for senate.

They keep it to put toward their next campaign.

The legal bribe system needs to end by the way. Public campaign financing FTW!

If they anticipate running for office again i nthe future they can keep it. If not, they have to either give it back or turn it over to their Party. NONE ever goes back to the donator!!!

Donations to them directly that they dont spend they keep. kinda lucrative isnt it.

I think that any unspent money can be kept, but they have to report it as income, ha ha ha.
