Why don't we make a 20 year term limit in politics, that way there won't be as many politicians having to worry about running against an incumbant whose been there for 50 years (I'm looking at you Rep. Byrd of West Virginia, I noticed you've been in office since 1959). I think that from the moment you are elected to your first public office, you have 20 years in office (not including time out of office). That way, some of these people that are causing the problems, will be out of there.
While we're rewriting the Constitution, let's set an age limit on the Supreme Court Justices... How about 75 for the associate justices, and 80 for the chief justice?

I was thinking more like a 2 term (12 year ) limit for senators and changing house terms to 3 or 4 years and 3 term limits for them.
supreme court justices well... I dunno some are quite competent still at 80. But perhaps thats a good age anyway.

Yes-Yes-Yes. This is the most important action we must take to change our system of government. Term limits of eight years for all elected posts just as we did for the President many years ago. That has certainly worked well. These "ol boys" are there too long and become too powerful. Their grip
weakens new thinking and strengthens lobbyists.

Term limits and other anti democracy movements that want to control who you can vote for are not in your best interest.
Democracy only works if everyone who wants to run can run and everyone who wants to vote can vote and vote for anyone who wants to run.
Lobbyists can not control the Senior politician who has been in office a long time. They do not need the special interests to get reelected and are free to truly work for the people. That's is why the special interests dreamed up term limits. To take power away from you.

I say two year term limits for every single one of them, regardless of what position they hold. This way, they would not have time to corrupt the system as bad. After two years of service, they also should not be allowed to run again, period. At 75 to 80 yrs of age, probably hard enough for them to tie their shoes, much less make a constructive decision.

Good idea but the people who can make this happen are the same people who would be affected by the changes and they are not going to vote them selves out of office. We have created a new class of people in the USA they are the professional politicians.

sounds like a great theory. whilst we are at it, how approximately NO company marketing campaign contributions? purely tax-deductible contributions from persons, constrained to $1000. this would propose that with the intention to get the expertise out, there would would desire to be a grass roots stream in the back of the candidate. no longer purely a team of company *ss-kissing for favors and votes. And particular, do away with the 401-k. My guy, Ron Paul, would not participate in the Congressional 401-k. "that's the tax payers funds, no longer mine." he says. My guy, Ron Paul additionally raised $6 million in one day, extra effective than the different candidate, ever. And it became into all from persons giving over the internet. the common donation became into $114. those occupation crooks with their company marketing campaign contributions are ruining this united states. era.

Term limits were part of the Republican Contract with America back in the 1990's, however once they were elected they disavowed it.

It is so needed but they will not vote that way for it. it's become an old boy network of diverting $$ and favors to their rich pals that get them elected, the payoff in pork barrel once their in office....a virtual cash cow...look at kennedy...what is wrong with the voters?
