No it isn't. If that person doesn't love ya back, it simply means that he/she is not the right person for ya...the consolation here is that if you are able to look beyond that, that the very right person might then be able to catch your attention.

There are many other afflictions of the heart which are at least as bad. The worst kind of despair is a much greater affliction.

As strange as this may sound, the experience of being in love is so wonderful (for then you are getting some taste of the infinite joys of eternity, a view of infinity, so to speak), that even if it is requited, it was actually worth it for me.
Although, of course, being unrequited is not a pleasant thing in itself, and all other things being equal, you would rather have it requited.

i used to think so but have figured something out. the worst affliction is self loathing. when self loathing exists, unrequitted love is unbearable but of course, so is everything else. even when love is returned from another, when i'm hating myself, i can't accept it or believe it anyway, so it's just as painful.
great question.
also, God loves us no matter what. but if He didn't, i'd be devastated.

i dont really think so, as long as its unrequited, you can leave it on your "dream shelf", and feel if given a chance, it might work out, you dont have to face a situation of being in love, having tried a relationship, and it didnt work out, and thus you must leave the one you love

Only if you are a totally self centered individual!
If you free yourself from such delusions... you will find not only happiness but true love!

I would say so, because not even a bypass operation can fix it.
