is envoirnmental education a necessary subject fr schools in n abroad?

out of 500 schools in india around 85% hav made evs as a compulsory subject in school i do feel it is very necessary but at the same time students dont feel like studying the subject why is that i really want 2 know ppl pls post in ur views!

I am answering this question as a high schooler. I think that if we added another subject to our high school's list of requirements we'd end up with 1/2 the school taking independent studies because they can't fit all their classes in. Not because they are failing but because they take classes that prepare them for their future careers that are not required classes. True the environment is important but not necessarily a subject that must be mandated. Forcing kids to learn about the environment MIGHT fix problems in the future, but at our school all he** would break loose right now.

I feel that its ok that evs has been introduced in most of the schools in India. I myself scored 100 upon 100 two times in this subject. In order to create awareness among masses, it is good that evs has been introduced. I too think that it is a boring subject but at the same time, it is a scoring subject like Computers or Maths. You can easily score marks and those children who do not fetch good marks in this subject, are harming themselves. Its not only 'bout evs that students do not feel like studying, they do not feel like studying most of the other subjects too.
