I give him food and clothing, and perhaps a bar of antibacterial soap and directions to a reputable psychiatrist. . Absolutely no cash whatsoever, under any circumstances. Otherwise he continues to prolong his drug/alcohol problem.

Hell no i dont..........if it were women or children i would why dont they have a job....they prolly make more money begging than i do working at a real job.....everyone has their own story to tell something tragic and for why they arnt working...
i have bought fast food and taken it to them before....foods difffent just makin sure the person doesnt use it to buy drugs or booze....

Yes, if I get the impression that they are truly homeless. I don't want to give a person money to buy another bottle of wine or cigarettes.

NO. and actually i learned that type of attitude from my brother. we were at a red light and there was a homeless guy of course by the truck..the light turned green and my brother rolls down his window..i thought he was going to give him money...instead he yells out "GET A JOB"

I actaully did walk by one asking for money and i had my sons Happy Meal from McDonalds with me so i gave the guy the prize/toy inside.

it is not correct that all beggars are homeless...
many have good houses , by Indian standards ,, they also go to bank, deposit their earnings , even have ATM cards...
Modern beggars have leraned the tricks of Corporate Houses...

No, but I usually buy them a meal from a fast food joint if there's one nearby.
I don't want them to end up spending my money on booze or drugs, but I also don't want them to be hungry.
